Memory Upgrade

Hi
I want to do memory upgrade , add another 1 gig.
since my mobo is dual channel i still have 2/4 slots free, i just dont know which memory to buy so it is compatible. i know the old sdram rule which was that the system detects the lowest processing speed e.g my new ram is pc 5300 and old 1 is 4300. the mobo will run both ram sticks on 4300mhz. rite?
 
DDR2 operates in the same fashion. You're best off getting more of what you already have unless you want to replace all of it.

My current ram is
PC4300 533 mhz 1 gb geil.
but i am confused weather i should put
2 X Legend DDR2 512MB PC4300 Legend ORIGINAL OEM 512MB DDR2 533MHZ 1.8V. in the remaining 2 slots

or

1 X Legend DDR2 1024MB PC4300 Legend ORIGINAL OEM 1024MB DDR2 533MHZ 1.8V


and also by putting different branded memory sticks together cause conflicts?
 
It depends on whether or not you're running the Geil in dual-channel mode. If you are, then you should go for second dual-channel setup with the new ram.

Also, you want to match the timing of you're current RAM. If you don't know the timing, you can use CPU-Z to find out. Any parts seller worth his parts will list the timing on DDR2 modules.

You mean the one in c1shopping has CL5 and i have CL4.
But although it says that have a look at another screenshot of cpuz

My ram is currently running at 268.0mhz freq. if u have a look in the earlier attachment
 
the first screenshot you posted displays the spec from all DIMM slots (collectively) in your system but the second screenshot allows you to see the detailed spec of each DIMM slot[ot]you need to get RAM that is compatible with you full system, & not just compatible with your current RAM (although checking each DIMM slot ensures you get the RAM needed to operate at it's maximum speed)[/ot]BTW: also in the second screenshot: it is displaying the CL rating used when each RAM stick is running at different speeds
