monitor black flicker

I got a 17in monitor which flickers ( goes black and then back to screen) randomly. It works when cable not plugged in and the refresh rates are fine so what can i do.

I'd say your monitor is on the way out mate, can sometimes be a loose connection, i've had VGA cables break at the monitor end (really annoying when they arent modular).

Make sure everything is well plugged in, if no luck then see if your monitor is still under warranty?

no warranty. well i guess its time for a new monitor.

does the colour of the LED changes wen it goes black?? i mean does it go to standby mode wen it goes black?

then jus try replacing the data cable,,i mean the one which u connect to ur system from monitor to ur graphics card or wat ever...
