Monitor eye health

Alright it says on howstuffworks.com that LCD's = less eye strain than CRTs. (Here) But does anyone have any clue just how significant this difference is? I already have crappier eyesight than I used to =(. It used to be perfect, but now I can definitely tell that I can't see as well in the distance -- it gets blurry when trying to focus on distant letters and objects. Is it likely that this was entirely caused by staring at the monitor all the time? I've had an older CRT for years running at 100Hz refresh rate.

While I hate being vauge, it depends on the person, the resolution, the refresh rate...I'm sure, overall, that may very well be true. However, LCD's are optimized for a specific resolution and also don't have as much need for higher refresh rates due to the inherit design of the display technology.
