Monitor, speakers, and keyboard randomly loose power?

I recently built a new desktop and randomly all power to the monitor speakers and keyboard(basically anything connected to the motherboard) will loose power at the same time but the computer remains on (internal fans and lights). It usually happens when I'm playing a game or something but the cpu or video card aren't getting that hot.

600W power supply
asus m4a88tdv motherboard(i think)
amd phenom 2 x4 840 cpu
geforce gtx 550Ti video
4gb ram

only thing that comes to mind is the cpu or motherboard is reaching temperatures that could cause it to shut down to prevent damage.
download an app to track idle and gaming temps in windows and see if temps are okay.
check to see if you have settings in your bios that halt the system when reaching certain temps.
if i'm not mistaking, i think intel cpu's did this sort of thing when they were overheating where everything shuts down but the pc stays on with the fans running.

My motherboard came with a program that monitors temps and none of the temps got over 55 when I checked right before it happened last. Could it just be a bad motherboard?

its possible. best to eliminate possibilities one at a time.
start off removing extras like optical drives, pci cards, extra hdd's, etc.
if you have more than 1 stick of memory, try removing one and test. alternate stick of mem and test again.
if you have onboard video use it and remove your video card. otherwise, try another video card and use a program to stress test the pc.
try a replacement power supply.
last resort would be to do motherboard/cpu.
