Motherboard Or Processor?

hi all im new here & ive been building & repairing computers for about 15 years.
recently i bought an AMD FX eight core 4.0 ghz processor & an MSI 760GA-p43 (fx) mainboard. i have had the system built & running for about 3 months & whilest going through the bios settings a few days ago i saw an option to unlock CPU cores i enabled this & the system reset but wouldnt boot back up. The hard drives/fans ect were running but there was no screen activity what so ever & i've now stripped the system back down, reset the bios & still no luck. im stumped as to weather it could be the mainboard or have i damaged the processor. any help or comments would be appreciated
 
Make sure the core unlock is disabled, and if not, go about the BIOS reset like this: unplug the power supply from the power cord, remove the CMOS battery, and then set the CMOS clear jumper to the clear position for 30 seconds. Reverse the order and see if you get anywhere.
 
There is no chance to open CPU cores from that processor, worthless to even try. Hope that BIOS reset helps and do not mess next time unless you klnow what you are doing.
 
ok i have tried the bios reset & no luck i left the bios battery out for a couple of hours just to make sure. i just plugged everything back together & put the battery back in & still nothing comes up on the screen. thanks guys for the input & i'm wondering now if i should buy a new processor or board. :(:mad:
 
Pretty bad motherboard if just one BIOS setting brokes it. That MSI board was outdated anyway, no proper SATA 6Gb/s or USB 3.0 support because of very old chipset. Not to mention it did not officially support FX-8350.

I recommend getting at least AMD 970 chipset board. 990X or 990FX are also good choices (better but more expensive).
