I am not sure when, but I have just realised that although all my ports are stealthed (apart from BT designated one) my computer name and workgroup is getting out there... :eek:

Should I be worried and how can I stop this?
This never happenned to me before.....

I am using Sygate personal firewall.

What do you mean exactly? Have you seen your computer name and workgroup on the Internet? If so, where? No sure what you're getting at...
 
ooops... sorry!

I test my firewall every now and again at www.grc.com.

I am not sure when this has changed but the last time I have checked, all of a sudden, the site lists my computer name and my computer's default domain name.

WTF?
 
They're not seeing it through your firewall, you computer is reporting it to them. It's a cheap trick, like the sign in my signature.

I don't see how you hostname or workgroup name could be used against you if you are behind a firewall, no. Windows shouldn't be leaking it, but Windows isn't exactly security embodied in an OS, know what I mean?
 
Cool... I just wanted to be sure as I never seen this information when I used to check before....
