network problems are preventing connection to ms exchange server

Hello Everyone,
I am having difficult time getting a user connected to the exchange server. We recently started using ms outlook 2000 for our email. Everyone in our office is not having any difficulty connecting and receiving their email, except for one pc. I have tried to uninstall and re-install which did not help. I have also gone into the outlook properties and deleted all profiles and references to the exchange server. I then close out, restart, and try to configure the machine with the settings that were used for everyone else on the exchange server. I keep getting the message network problems are preventing connection to the ms exchange server. This is an annoying problem, any and all help would be surely appreciated.
 
have you checked that his user account hasnt been disabled/limited (a common problem at the uni i work at)

Would I have to check his user account on the exchange server and if so how would I do this? Through the active directory?

it depends, for me i have to contact another dept of the university to find out, im afriad i dont actually have any hands-on experience with an exchange server. Perhaps someone else on here does?
If you have full access to the domain controller and the you could look up his/her username look for them AD in 'users' (under all the computer sub-domains) and see if they have been added to any other limitation groups.

Of course this is only how i have to do it, we run a number of win 2k domain controllers, if your running anything else then my advice may be pretty useless! lol

Just re-read your thread (sorry tiny bit drunk but liverpool just won - whahey)

Have you made sure that their computer is in the correct OU if you are working on a complex network (like mine) the normal 'computers' OU (where our computers put themselves when they are freshly installed) has been made quite limited for obvious reasons! May be something to do with that?
