From CUSTOM PC Magazine:
Swedish god of quiet fans Arctic Cooling has just announced two new ranges of peaceful and affordable HSF's. The first is the Alpine range of CPU coolers which will be even cheaper than the company's current Freezer models. The Alpine 64 (for AMD CPU's), which can cool up to an X2 3800+, will be priced at just $15.50US (£8.76) and has a noise rating of 0.6 sones compared with 2.6 sones for the AMD reference cooler. Arctic Cooling also claims that this will cool your CPU to 0.26*C per watt with the reference cooler.
Meanwhile the Alpine 7 (for Incel CPU's), which can cool up to a Pentium D 840, will cost $17.50US (£9.89) and will cut the noise of the Intel reference cooler from an ear bleding 4.9 sones to a much more ambient 0.6 sones. Both coolers will feature a 'patented vibration absorber' to keep down the noise, and will also some with some 'pre-applied high-performance thermal compound'.
GPU's will recieve similar treatment courtesy of the company's new Accelero coolers. These will feature a new triangular design rather than the ,ong rectangular shape of the old Silencer coolers, and they'll also have six heatpipes. Two models will be available: the X1 for Nvidia GeForce 6800 and 7800-series GPU's; and the X2 for ATi Radeon X1800 and X1900-series GPU's. Arctic Cooling claims that the X1's noise is rated at just 0.4 sones, compared with 2 sones from the reference 7800GTX cooler.
All of the new coolers will feature a dynamic fluid bearing with oil trapped inside, as well as a six-year warranty. The coolers will be released at the end of February.
