i do believe we have some overclocking guides in the overclocking category, if not, ill be happy to write one out for you
but still they are known for overstability lol, so yeah hell get the cooler, and overclock your RAM with it, i just recommended that RAM because it has a T1 Command Rate and dual channel, thats really fast
here is an interesting q (hopefully hehe) so its about $800 atm, what if i could spend another $100 - where would you say it would need to go? thanks for the continuing help! awesome forums!
For max gaming power I'd but it toward an X800XT myself, maybe. Either that or an Athlon 3500 Venice which is one heck of a chip. But you're fine just the way you are, you don't need to go all out unless you're an uber gamer or something.
hello all, upon doing more research, seeing more benchmarks for hl2... i have decided to go with the following configuration. (attached word doc) as you can see... its a green / black (retro / old school) look hehe this also gives me a few bucks to spend on extras and make it more entertainment oriented... im thinking: *tv card *sound card any suggestions? thanks again for all the kind help...
This is the best sound card for the money in my opinion: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829120103 And while buying an X800XT All in Wonder with an integrgratd TV tuner would be the ultimate just go with the traditional method: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815100129 Though it won't be as fast as before obviously it will no doubt be one cool PC. Does that case support Standard ATX motherboards?
yea its got standard atx support... it seems one just has to remove the pre-installed 120mm fan to get the mobo in there... but it gets in there thanks for those sound card / tv card suggestions.. might jsut be what i need also, is it ok to leave it on onboard sound or is a sound card a must - these days?
You might get a -5% performance hit in the worst circumstances with onboard sound but supposibly the quality of a sound card is a good bit better which I can understand.
unless you're recording professional music or professional movie editing, theres not much need for one unless you have too much money
hey, it seems, on the mobo that i picked (epox 9npa+ ultra) the memory dual channel works only if the 2 dimms are in 1&2 or 3&4.. as in, right next to each other. and i found one review saying, any ram with heat spreaders touches one another in that kinda setup.. is this going to be a major issue? major enough to change the mobo? thanks!
have you thought about cables? or do you have them? EDIT: also i dont think that system will hold up with a generic case PSU, i think getting a good trusted brand one could help
i think the cables come with the mobo, and the antec case comes with a antec 350w psu. i might change that later if i decide to oc still not certain of that :-P
I'm not entirely sure that PSU will be fine for stock speeds. Nothing against Antec, but that PSU isn't their high-end unit. It's still nothing to laugh at, but I think you'll be wanting something with some more meat later on.
hey all, i was checking out more ram... and then it occured to me that if i just get this ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144517 i wouldnt even have to bother with ocing ram, and i could just oc my venice 3000+ to 250 fsb to match the ram. i was just a little unsure because that geil ram seems to be too good of a deal to be true, as it is even cheaper than some pc 3500 ram. so i just want to make sure that it will actually work at 250 fsb as it says it should
yea if i decide to oc a whole lot, this seems to be the ram i will go for. if i dont.. i will prolly stick to the kingston valueram.. at its good enough at stock.
