This will be my first project, I choose all the parts of my computer but was very scared about buying them. I have so far this.

I have some questions if you would be so kind to answer them.

1.) The motherboard says it is mATX (I think that means micro ATX) will that work OK?
2.) Will the optical drive play CD's as well as DVD's?

And if you could reasure me that the system will be OK or what you would advise I should change it would be appreciated.

Everything looks well chosen except for the motherboard. While it will work OK, you'd be much better off choosing a board which officially supports DDR2 667 memory and isn't dual compatible with DDR400. Anything with the new Intel P965 chipset will work fine. For full size ATX boards, the Asus P5B and Abit AB9 are good choices. For Micro ATX boards, the Asus P5B-VM is also a good choice among others. I'm no PSU expert, but what you've chosen doesn't seem too good. It has good amperage on the important 12v rail but doesn't seem sturdy quality wise. Some good manufacturers are Antec, OCZ, Seasonic, Silverstone, PC Power & Cooling and Fortron.
