New System. opinions? suggestions?

I'm buying a new system in the next few days, and I'm not the most computer literate. A friend has helped pick some parts and I want some more opinions.
So far this is what I've picked:

I've actually gone a little bit over my budget, but what do you think?
 
I would get a motherboard with a 680i chipset like this evga mobo this gives you the option to upgrade to SLI (add another nVidia 8800GTS) that crossfire board supports two ATI cards (but the 8800GTS will still work with that board).

I think the other components are pretty good.
 
The P35 chipsets are fine, no need to pay the extra for that slight boost in performace. When you have the money to go SLi you might aswell just buy a new mobo that supports SLi then because it will probably be cheaper. There's really no point in getting an SLi board when you're gonan be only using one slot.

umm.... yes there is, you can't upgrade to SLI with just one slot. It's all about expansion man.
 
yeah too true!! im buying the asus striker but just one 8800gtx/ultra so later i can re-own by expanding :D

but if u dont want to expand and want to save money get a normal one:)
 
2900XT > 8800 GTS 640 MB. So take ATI.

CPU: E6750

Motherboard: no ideas :D but you need one with 1333 mhz FSB support. One of those is Gigabyte DS3 rev. 3.3.

RAM: OCZ / Corsair Dominator (you have chosen Intel system so that means you gonna overclock it)

DVD-RW: Pioneer 111D / 112D

just the guys we need today, ati fans :D

it's simple that 8800gts is not better than 2900xt, because hd2900xt is built to challenge with 8800gtx, but at performance/cost chart hd2900xt is best for gamers clearly

deluxe boards are nothing to give you more than a few needless things, no need for that to have wireless support, i will buy an usb stick wireless module, they can show the connections too and will be cheaper

consider a thermaltake case with psu it will be make your finances better or get a chieftec matrix big tower it has 680watt psu on it and it has a good quality

i said again and i'm saying again sli is nothing human eye can only distinguish 30 frames/second what's the meaning of making 400fps or more on any game and for that giving 1000 dollars for gfx, needless to recommend as he is saying that he is over his budget
 
No no, you are wrong :) 2900XT is built to compete against 8800 GTS. If it was set up against 8800 GTX, price would be similiar to GTX. And look at those first tests of 2900XT. 8800 GTS outperformed XT almost in every game. But now everything is changed. And don't tell that ATi drivers are bad )) .

And about those fans. I'm not ATi fan. I just choose the best performance/ price thing market offers at this time :)

2900XT costs less than 8800 GTS (+ more performance)

E6750 costs less than E6600 (again, + performance)
