No Conectivity

Just Recently Built a new computer...
I have the ABIT AN8 32X ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail at Newegg.com

Problem is I cannot connect to the internet....
I have Verizon Fios High Speed, which is an always on connection.. I run through a D-Link Router...
I know foro a fact that it hast to be something with my computer b/c I am current writing this plea for help with my laptop w/ the ethernet cord I tried tro use in my new computer.....

One thing that I tried is to "Repair" my connection and window pop up
saying Couldn't Repair b/c .... Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection...

Someone please help....

The Network Maigc Program didn't work... wouldn't even let me run the program "Network Could Not Be Found" is the message that popped up and then the program closes....


Upon checking my network connections... it say that my 1394 connection is connected ....(w/ no cable plugged into the ethernet port.)
Status shows it connected at a Speed of 400.00Mbps

I've tried uninstalling the driver but to no results....

any idea whats going on?
 
well you won't be able to connect through your 1394 (firewire), you'll need to plug your router into your RJ58 (ethernet) port, which OS are you using ?

sorry, not RJ58 i meant RJ45
RJ58 is old BNC ethernet
RJ45 is similar to UK telephone connector
 
your problem must be your network card itself. If you just recently bought your mobo, ask newegg for a replacement.
 
might be a long shot but everytime my base unit travels to my bros shop and back, no metter if we never touched the ethernet card or not, mine won't connect to the net or the router! till i have refitted the ethernet card, it doesn't seem to like to travel.

might be worth taking it out and putting it back in just to make sure!
 
Ok problem fixed... I just went ahead and bout a 10/100/1000 D-Link Card and Plugged it in to one of my PCI slots installed my drivers and bam....
5kbps Down and 2kpbs up....
