i've just seen what the nv40 can do on benchmarks! it wipes the floor with the radeon 9800xt and will have better dx9 support. The only thing that could take on this would be the ATi equivelent. check out the benchmarks here

I never buy flagship model video cards, unless they're on some kind of uber-sale or something. Unless you're made of cash, just look out for the cards that are the most for your money. As for your question, when a new line of video cards are released, the next model down goes down an average of about 25% a month. :)Waffle said:How soon will they drop, and by how much will they drop? Are you talking a hundred or so $/£'s? In which case, as I'm not getting my PC til about June this year, I would go for 9800XT. The next-gen cards will be phenomenal, but for 500$/£, I'm not prepared to pay that much yet, when I can get a decent enough card, that will last a while, long enough for the 6800 and Ati's new cards to drop in price sufficiently. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway.
