Well i got my vid card today from a friend so i have no cd or anything this si what i did step by step.
uninstalled my old geforce drivers
shut down comp
took out the old geforce and put in the new ATI
turn on comp and xp found the new vid card and installed it for me
i need to install new drivers for it now i guess because when i try to play half llife it tells me the video mode is not supported so it will run in software mode.
when i surf the net and try to scroll down a page it is very slow . so can someone help me to find the drivers .

my new vid card is a ATI 9500 overclocked to a 9700

it also has a sweet fan on it . iceberq 4 vantec

in device manager under the heading video adapters it has 2 and they both are called pretty much the same Radeon 9500 pro/9700 Family (Microsoft corporation) And Radeon 9500 pro/9700 SEC Family (Microsoft corporation)

Ok so i went on the Ato site and found drivers that i thought were correct but i guess they were not. i installed the drivers and it said now you have to reboot the computer so i did and it boots up and im looking at the windows xp logo while it boots and as soon as it is going to go to my desktop the monitor shuts of and the light just blinks??? so i went in on safe mode and uninstalled those drivers in device manager and the refreshed device manager and win xp found my vid card and installed there own drivers for it so once again i have to reboot again and still the comp wont boot up correctly??? i need help bad

i am nvidia card type fan,but try this..dont install the software when windows prompts whether to install the software..cancel it..now install the latest drivers from that ati site..i think its catalyst or something..

Ok well i have my old vid card in now and it is working fine except that if i was going to keep this one i would need the latest drivers but im not keeping it so. umm im downlloading the catylist or how ever you speel it now and saving it to my computer and then going to shut down the pc and put in my ATI card and then try to boot up and install those drivers. what do you think?

the latest drivers are the catalyst 5.9 drivers..n does your card require a power supply cable?some cards require the cable..n also a min. amount of watts by the PSU..if possible give details about PSU..a 300w PSU is enough for that card...wish u luck :)

Didn't the card come with a driver cd?
Also if you install the Catalyst Control Panel with the drivers you will need Microsoft .NET installed beforehand!

I bought the card off a friend so he didnt get me the cd with it. yeah i get an error npw when i start up my comp CLI.EXE i think and it just has to do with control panel thing for the card. My PSU is 450 watts thx alot

Yup, i had the same problem!
Install Microsoft .NET and everything should be ok!
As far as i remember the file size of .NET is about 22MB
