On Board sound problem

Hi i recently got a new motherboard. The "DFI AMD 790FX"

DFI LANPARTY UT 790FX-M2R Socket AM2+ 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard - Ebuyer

I put it all together and it worked fine, installed windows and everything was fine. I installed all the graphic drivers, audio drivers etc off the disk and it seemed fine. But for some reason i couldnt get the sound to work. So i made sure the card was in properly and i went to system and hardware in control panal and it was definatly detecting the device and it said its working fine. Didnt have the yellow sign with the " ! " in the middle of it. the Realtek drivers installed fine but for some reason sound wasnt coming out of my speakers or headset or another headset which i know for sure work. Sound only came out on the Realtek sound control panal mixer thing in the "testing" bit of it. and it was fine. But only there.

So i i decided that i would un install the drivers and also the realtek sound device and try re installing them. Now when ever i try and re install the drivers which was the disk in the first place that made the icon etc come up .. it comes up with this message "Install Realtek HD audio Driver Failure !!"

What im worried about is that there was only one driver to install and thats what i installed but when i was un - installing i unstalled two realtek things......

as i haven't used Windows for about 2 - 3 years i'm a bit unfamiliar with the environment, but, hardware is hardware

presumably your using XP, & is the onboard sound enabled in the BIOS

by PM or whatever

hello again i dont know if you remember me but you really helped me when i was buying a new motherboard a few weeks ago ... well thanks for that and you will be happy to know i installed it fine and the PC is great xD

In the Device Manager (where all the devices are listed), select the audio device and press Delete. Then answer Yes. Now right-click on the list and choose "Scan for Hardware Changes".

Also open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" in Control Panel. At the "audio" tab, make sure that the audio device is selected as default.

hmm i have already tried that accept instead of pressing delete i do uninstall and it comes up with this .. "Failed to uninstall Device. The device may be required to boot up the computer."

Yes its on defualt and always has been.... but the device on system manager also has that yellow circle with an " ! " in the middle of it...... so its detecting the device but like not using it... it wont let me install teh drivers..... says its unable to..... and i tried reconnecting my onboard sound card.... It came with the motherboard and is party of it but its seperate i had to put it on my self but its definatly being detected.

If there's an exclamation mark on it, then double-click on in. Choose to reïnstall the drivers, and point to the folder where the audio driver is located. In most cases you can find it on the disc, in the folder Audio.

Tried it before didnt work.... tried it just now and it didnt work and my friend tried it and it didnt work :P ..... so i tried update driver, disable and then install, roll-back driver ... its having non of it... do you think system recovery would help ? ... because when i uninstalled the drivers i uninstalled two things .... and whe ni was installing the drivers i only installed one thing .. so is it possible i accidently litterally un installed sound from my PC ?
