one stupid question:

    If you have a 750W PSU, and say your hardware only uses 600W (max), will the PSU still pull out 750W or will it consume less? Same for underload hardware, if your harware is at idle, will it still use 750W ?

    The rating for the PSU is the maximum power output for that unit. If your PC is only drawing say 500W from a 750W PSU then the PSU will only output the required power (500W for isntance) - otherwise it'd be providing too much power and where would that go?

    Thats correct, most of the time your power supply will not be under full load unless you have power hungry components with a low wattage PSU. I have a 500W PSU, yet most of the time I would estimate it only uses 300W max.

    its basic electricity you cant just make energy but maybe the psu would pump out extra and make the parts cook?
