hi guys , its been a long while but am here again to ask for your god like help and assistance , i have just instaled windows xp home on top of windows me and after losing silly things like sound, graphics , basically everything i have believe it or not managed to regain everything except outlook express !cannot start the affore mentioned e-mail , keep getting error messagesmsoe32.dll and then followed by msoeres.dll , does not mean a thing to me and was wondering if any of you superb people have a cure for me please ??:)
 
firstly did you keep the FAT32 file system or convert it to NTFS ?

NTFS is better because it doesn't restrict file sizes to 3Gb or 4Gb (can't remember which) and NTFS is far far more secure than FAT32

also does this help ?

That doesn't mean anything to me either, but things generally work much smoother if you do a clean install rather than installing over the old OS. I think, anyway. Perhaps you could simply back up all your important stuff you want to keep and format your hard drive and install XP fresh?
 
It's definately an install problem. I, too, would recommend backing up what you would like to keep and reformat that HDD and re-install a clean XP install.
 
:O sorry guys a clean install is not an option , this is a pc purchased from a company i was leasing from for works use , cant lose software that work uses as the lease company dont let ya have the discs , on tight budget so shelling out for software not an option unfortunately
no idea whether am running fat 32 or not , how would a mere mortal establish this ??
have contacted the helpline at microshit and unless i can give them the licence number on the back of the m.e. disc they are not prepared to help !! miserable lack of customer satisfaction or what !!
have trawled microsoft websire for a fix , no luck there and all the google links lead me to pay for software sites that just do a free registry scan , here are the exact error codes Ox800CO12E,3 and then MSOE.DLL
please help guys
 
do you have another HDD or a partition to backup the important system files & registry, ideally the HDD or partition would be best to backup the entire system or create a new partition on either the existing HDD or a new 1 and just copy the important stuff you need from the old partition of HDD

like important system files & the registry or some software you need
 
ok thanks for the advicd but is there any chance that possibly you could talk me through how to back up to the hdd, and have found out i am running fat32 if this helps anyone
 
sure, no problem, how HDD space is being used ?
or can you get hold of a USB HDD, of possibly add an internal or external HDD temporarily

you aim is to have your HDD and another storage device [strike]to enable you to copy[/strike] it would be much easier to use something like Acronis Disk Director

first you'll need to defrag your HDD then simply reboot and boot from the Disk Director CD and resize your existing partition, then create a new partition (preferably NTFS) also set the NTFS partition active (i think) and reboot and install your OS (XP)
