PC won't turn on...

Hi all, I've got a issue thats got me stumped. I recently just put in a new video card, but the next day when i went to turn the computer on, nothing happened - no lights, no post, nothing.

There are lights on the motherboard, so there is power getting through. I read somewhere to try and short the power pins on the mobo, this didnt work either. I unplugged the PSU for 5 minutes, plugged it back in...and now it turns on! Problem is, every time i power down the computer now (resets work fine) I run into the same problem.

Any ideas why this would be? I've got a Silverstone strider 850w PSU thats less than 18 months old.
 
Did it do this with old video card ? remove the bio's battery to reset the motherboard.. try it with another video card..
 
No the older video card was fine. I noticed something else last night, that one of my external hard-drives wasn't connecting and some other USB connected peripherals weren't working.
I'm going to put the old card back in tonight and see what happens. I'm hoping I haven't fried my mobo :( If it's just a new PSU then not so much of a big deal
 
Try to check the battery or video card. Make sure that all fans are working as well. There are actually simple reasons why pc won't turn on so you have to be really observant.
 
What are the full system specs here?
Make sure all power connectors on the motherboard are plugged in and any and all on the video card.
