PCI-E power connectors

Hey i just bought the X-finity 500 watt. It has two 12 volt rails, one at 18 amps and the other at 16 amps. Each PCI-E connector is on its own rail, and marked with a sticker.

I am wondering if there is any sort of cord splitter that would let me connect both of these PCI-E connectors into one PCI-E slot. So i'm needing some sort of Y-cable for PCI-E cords. But i can't seem to find any.

I need this for my 8800 GTS, i bought this PSU because i just added the two rails together and thought to myself "hm 34 amps... should be great for my 8800 gts", but in reality these two rails are physically seperate, and my GTS only allows for one PCI-E cord to go into it.
 
oh, and by the way i did use the thing that came with the card to connect two molex cables into the PCI-E thing, but when i did that i recieved a much lower 3DMark score for my card.

so i need to be able to use both of my PCI-E connectors.

There's no adapter I'm aware of that does what you want.

What happens when you use one PCIe plug from the power supply?
 
I'm using just one right now. It works fine, but i don't think i'm getting optimal performance (i get like 30-40 fps on bf2142 right now, and around 20-40 on call of duty 2). I have it hooked up to the 18 amp rail. And the card requires a minimum of like ~26 amps on the 12v rail.

lol i can't believe they don't have something like a splitter for pci-e cables!
 
That's probably why there's a trend to single rail +12V, which is techinically out of spec with the regulations, but it seems that's going to be what's called for with the 8800 and HD2900's.

What resolution are you running in those games?
 
I'm running 1400*900 for all these games.

Is there anything that i can do short of buying a new psu.... (which i just did with this one)
 
it amazes me that nobody has come out with a product to combine 2 pci-e connectors... i imagine it would have a rather large customer base.... WINK WINKKKKK any cable-making companies , i just gave you a free idea.
 
It would only be useful for split-rail +12V scenarios, and I think that they may not make them for a very limited market. There's a lot greater demand for molex to PCIe, as it would allow users without PCIe connectors to use the card. The point of dual +12V rails were intended to keep the CPU and video card/other +12V separate.

If such thing exists, I can't find it. Plus, as you've already seen by running the two molex to PCIe, your power supply may not be built to handle that video card. The 8800's are extremely power hungry, and while the X-Finity is fine for 7 series GeForce cards, I have my doubts of it being made for the 8800s.

I did do a little research, and if you're using some antialiasing and anisotropic filtering, the FPS seems about right for your specs. (with the direct PCIe connection used).
