Possessed mouse, help please!

Hello all. Ive searched google extensively for solutions, but this problem is too unique and i fear the worst. Since about 4 days ago (nothing special happened), my mouse began to move on its own... sort of sporatically left right up down, like its trembling. Instinctively I thought it was a mouse problem, so i went to unplug the mouse and try another.
After unplugging the mouse, i looked at the screen. My pointer was still moving around. I even tried another mouse, for giggles. Nothing. So I got frustrated, bought a new hard drive and windows 7. Installed windows 7 on the new disk, get into windows and behold! My mouse trembles. I run on an nForce 680i LT SLI mobo, twin NVIDIA GEFORCE 8800 GTS graphics cards, Intel 2.66ghz Quad Core processor, 4 gigs of nvidia memory. This is extremely frustrating, and im sure my motherboard is damaged, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

is your mouse wireless? optical?
have you tried a wired mouse?
have you tried a ps/2 mouse?
have you tried seeing if the problem happens without a mouse connected?
i know you can't test the mouse without one connected but the cursor still sits at the center with or without one.

It does it without the mouse plugged in. And its situational. Like right now, i just got up, and my mouse is very still, very normal. However, out of nowhere, it will start moving on its own and even if i unplug the cable, the mouse, the everything but power and monitor from the tower, it will still keep moving. Its a wired laser mouse, but again it happens with it unplugged as well. Even in safe mode.

if the mouse is moving without a mouse even plugged in then you know its not your mouse.
another thing you can try is to find some kind of software you can boot up through cd that utilizes a mouse such as some kind of hdd diagnostic software and see if it persists.
this may require the use of a ps/2 mouse. try without it if possible and see just for kicks.
this would eliminate the idea that it could be some kind of virus or the os causing the issue.
also does your motherboard have ps/2 mouse port?
