PSU turns off. Pics and Video inside.

Hey everybody. Nice to meet you!

I'm running into a problem with a PSU I bought for a gaming rig.

Here are some pictures of the connections.


(the mobo is an Asus M2N SLI Deluxe; not having a CPU or RAM shouldn't be causing this problem, right? I would expect that the BIOS would just be beeping at me)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
 
It's a Asus M2N SLI Deluxe and a Thermaltake Toughpower 700w (the one with the modular cables).

I haven't attached any other components to it.
 
Totally missed the first post.:doh:

To start a system up and POST, you must have a CPU (with CPU heatsink) 1 stick of RAM, and a video card if the motherboard does not have it on-board.
The CPU and RAM are critical parts, so you can't get anywhere without them being installed.
 
Just in case you're curious, the reason why I didn't put any components in there is that I once lost my entire machine after a power supply went bad.

So the power supply stopping is a direct result of a missing CPU/RAM? Is that done by a signal from the mobo? The reason why this confused me is that my old mobo would just beep at me if either the CPU or RAM were missing, and the PSU fan continued to spin.

Ok, I took Big B's advice and things worked flawlessly!

The lesson learned: when building a PC part by part, don't count on the PC Speaker to yell at you when there's a missing CPU and RAM; sometimes the power supply just winds down.

This doesn't mean that the mobo or power supply is faulty.
