RAID on XP problem

Hoping someone here has the solution....

I'm trying to move my current drive with XP Pro to a new computer that has RAID (the old computer doesn't). I disabled RAID in the BIOS in order to allow XP to see my drive and boot up, thinking that I could then install RAID drivers from within XP before re-enabling RAID again. The problem is that Intel Matrix Storage Manager (RAID drivers) will not allow me to install b/c it doesn't see RAID on the system. How do I forcibly install said drivers? Thanks. I've been wasting way too much time on this.

Did you also remove any reference to the system board from your old machine before taking the drive across? If you didn't there will be conflicting info about your previous controllers, which I assume were on board the system board. XPwill need to auto detect the RAID controllers which I presume are part of the new system board?
This may be why you can't update the new RAID controllers with their correct drivers, because there is still left behind information about your old system board & the controllers from it.

I understand what you are saying. But XP won't auto-detect RAID unless it's turned on. However if I turn it on, then XP can't boot b/c it doesn't have the drivers.
 
OK- are you able to install XP without your non RAID drive being present on the new machine or are you just trying to get XP going from your old drive?
If the latter then this is where you may be having the issue. What you may need to do if you have an install CD is to get XP to detect the RAID at this early stage.
 
I'm trying to get my existing XP to work on a new PC. I've found some info online that explained how to activate RAID on an existing Windows install through registry changes. Haven't had time to try it yet though, but it makes sense since what I need to do is point Windows to the correct drivers.

You mean , you are sticking your old hard drive in you new pc right ? If this is correct, then IT Will not work.... Unless, your old pc is exactly the same as the new one..
Must have all the same drivers and hardware..
