Ram Slot Tabs

One of my RAM slot tabs seem to be broken. so the RAM won't securely fit in there. Any ideas other than buying a new mobo?
 
you could try blowing it with a can of compressed air, don't physically blow towards it with your mouth as the moisture could damage them further

edit: how exactly is it broken, is it visable, could you post a pic
 
It's not the slot itself that is damaged but the tabs on the sides that hold the RAM into the slot, one is missing, so one of the slots locks in and the other doesn't.
 
I've not done this myself, but you could try pulling a tab from a dead board for a replacement.
How hard it would be, I don't know, but outside of a full motherboard replacement, that's about the only option I can think of.

you guessed it, it was years ago on a new 486 board with 32 pin SIMMS, but it wasn't a good working new board for long, then again on a socket 7 board with 72 pin DIMMS

BTW: yes i did feel like a plank:doh: especially after killing 1 board already, damn why why why can't i learn from my mistakes:doh: :doh: :doh:
