Reseting Router to Factory Settings ...

I need to reset my router to factory settings.

I have a (somewhat old) Alcatel Speed Touch Home. I also have a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 Ghz connected to my Alcatel.

There is a hole at the back of the Alcatel which reads 'Defaults' underneath it. I assume I stick a pin in there and my router will be reset to defaults.

My concern is being able to reconfigure the router once it's reset, and to have it functioning again with the Linksys (I didn't set any of this up in the first place).

So can anyone advise as to how I can find out my Alcatel's current settings (and possibly also my Linksys settings if I'm going to need them), so I can record this info before resetting my router ?. Any advice on doing this greatly appreciated.

If you're not going to reset the linksys then you don't need to reconfigure it.

I'm guessing you use ADSL, so you'll need your ISP username/password for your router/modem to establish the connection. To do this, look underneath your router and you should see information like:

IP address: 192.168.0.1
username: admin
password: password

Type the router IP address into your browser, and enter the admin details to get access to the router. Here you can record the current connection details and then reset it.

On inserting a pin to reset, just hold it in for about 10 secs and that should do the trick.
