First off i was getting really really bad ping spikes in games to where i lost connection to the server, like 2000. So i thought it might have been the ISP and i was screwed, but i thought about it and instead of plugging the cable from the modem into the router i just plugged it directly to the PC. The issues went away and i figured i got a crappy router, which i do becasue ever other time a cable is connected to it it needs to be reset, but then i remebered something else.

It wouldn't be weird but its the only machine with the Internet Gateway thing. I'm almost positive it doesn't go through another machine becasue it was the first machine i set up. Obviously i disconnect the cable from the router then directly yo the nic and it goes away, along with all the other issues. Any ideas or anyone heard of anything like this.
 
well i'm getting a new router so i'll see if it helps, also brand name and generic cables have the same exact performance right, say belkin vs generic.
 
If you're sure that its your router causing the problems, then try getting a firmware upgrade for your router. Make sure you get the exact one you need. Some firmware versions can be for the same model, but different versions of the model. So double check, your router will probably have a web interface for upgrading the software.
 
yeah my router is super ass cheap, like woah. but yeah i'll check around cause i'm sure i'll use it again some time, thanks for the tip, oh yeah what about the internet gateway thing, because i've never seen that before.
 
That's probably because you're connecting directly via ethernet to your modem, instead of using a router. The modem is in effect, a type of network gateway.
 
no when i connect directly to the modem ther internet gateway thing goes away, its when i'm connected to the router it pops up
