Sata -> SataII

Hey guys (and Gals)

My B-Day is ominously approaching and I though I will finaly honour Debian with the amount of space it deserves.

Wherever I look, all drives are now SATAII.
My god ol' mobo supports SATA so am I right assuming it will not support a SATAII drive? Or will it be OK but transfer rate will remain according to normal SATA standard (1.5GB/s)?

A SATA2 HDD will work fine as long as you jumper it.
And yes, it will operate at traditional SATA standards.

How do you mean jumper it?

I have not jumpered my current one... :confused:

I do not think it even came with a jumper... :dry:

Chances are, you'll have to put a jumper on the HDD to force it operate at SATA 150Gb/s speeds. If you have no spare jumper caps, your local computer shop will give you one.

However, in the mean time I thought of perhaps getting a new case so I can hopefully try and create a silent PC or at least a quieter one.

Updated = made my mind up and I am going for the Thermaltake Soprano all black! From Novatech for £53 inc. delivery. Ordered and hopefully should come in time for my birthday.... Thanks Pelvis for the info! :cool: Debian will have to wait a while longer....
