Setting SSID in XP...

Call me a noob, but I just go one of those D-LINK USB Wireless G adapters. The thing is sweet. So like the title states, how do I set my SSID for my computer. Im pretty sure how I know how to do it with the D-LINK software that came with the thing, but I don't really like that software. How would I set the SSID through the windows XP wizard thing, I believe it is called "Wireless Zero Configuration Utility" or something. Thanks :)
 
On the system tray, you can see a small wireless network icon. Right click that, and click "Search for wireless networks" and you can search for it. If you've hidden the SSID, I also believe theres a wizard to connect to a network manually.
 
Thanks, but what I mean is to set the SSID of my computer with the adaptor, so that it broadcasts that SSID and other computer can connect to it. I really don't want to use D-Link's software for this, trying to do it in XP's wireless connection manager if possible.
 
I've never done this, but you're trying to set it up with ad-hoc mode, which is in the interface configuration somewhere.
