Sofware for KVM switch

Hi, I have an old KVM switch which I use to switch between two of my comuters. It is an old analogue one and because of this it does not emulate a mouse and keyboard to the other comuter when it is not active. This means that sometimes when I switch between the two of them. I loose control of computer because its lost the connection between the mouse and keyboard.

Is there a piece of software I could use to fool both computers that a mouse and keyboard is connected all the time?

no, its not quite like what I want. It's just like VNC and I already use that.

Well but it would be ideal if we could solve the problem without him making any more purchases. Besides, if were to buy something it would be a new KVM instead of a new keyboard and mouse. Other than that, I would only be able to recommend that you look for some kind of updated drivers or firmware for the KVM. Also, it would be helpful if you posted the brand and model of the KVM.
 
No no, I don't think you qute understand. The KVM is an old model. I've opened it up and it is all handwired inside it seams. It just has a big 4-way switch inside to make all the connections. This means that firmware wont exist!!!

I really am just looking for some software to fool the computer that the keyboard and mouse are there at all times.
