Sony Rootkit Followup

    [​IMG]In answer to the extremely negative PR generated by the recent news about Sony's DRM Rootkit, Sony|BMG has released a patch that is supposed to remove this rootkit. Sony|BMG's official response verbatim:

    If you were to ask me, I'd tell you they were testing their boundaries on how invasive their DRM could become before the public took notice. Sony: we've taken notice. We also take notice when you sue children and their parents for file trading, use scare tactics against your own customers, and try to take away our fair use rights for the content that we've purchased from you.

    Things in perspective, Sony likely won't need to write a rootkit for Windows 'Vista' -- it will come heavy-laden with DRM right out of the box.
