I have an amd 64 fx-51 processor and im looking for a motherboard and 1 gig of memory to go with it. ive heard lots of storys about certain motherboards having problems with the fx-51, and that the fx-51 only works with registered memory.
Well, since you have a Socket 940 CPU, you're options are pretty limited. You're best bet is probably the Asus SK8N or SK8V, both run for $172.00 at Newegg. The newer motherboard for Socket 754 and Socket 939 will not work with your CPU because of the pin-out on the CPU and the fact that they don't require Registered DDR.
hey thx for the reply. yea im a big fan of asus and those were the first two i saw when i was thinking about a 64 mobo. i guess ill get the SK8v.. unless someone has something bad to say about it.
as for the memory, im looking for something cheaper than 500 dollars for 2x512 . but i deffinatly want corsair. so i would be looking at spending about $250-300 .
if anyone has a fx-51 with some memory worth $250 could u gimme some feedback on how it works.
