USB CF Card Reader Not Working - Keeps Asking To Format

Hello. I have a hardware problem if someone would be able to help me that would be amazing. After being infected with a rootkit my CF Card Reader is no longer working on this computer. It works on other computers just not this one. I bought a new one and it doesn't work on this computer either. When I plug it in it asks me to format the card and if I do format it says Windows cant format the card. I have tried uninstalling it via Device Manager and installing it again with no avail.

I don't know what it could be but if anyone has had a similar problem I could use the help.

I just tried formatting via cmd line and it seemed to work but when I try to cd to it i got an error.

go to start - right click my computer- select manage - disk managment change the drive letter from I to a different letter.

Just tried with no avail and it shows "No Media" on the disk which is weird because the card is inserted. Thank you for your reply.

I know the card is not messed up and the card reader is brand new. Both work on an other computer.
