Video Card Problem

I am having a problem with my video card lately. It gives me vertical thin lines that make the picture very distorted and grainy. I am running a HP Pavilion a1710n which is less then a year old. The HP website does not give any updated video drivers for my card. The card is a NVIDIA GEForce 6150LE. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times but no luck. It is strange because sometimes the display will be clear and then out of no where the distortion happens. Any solutions/experience in the area would be great fully appreciated!
 
Does your graphics card have a fan on it? If it does, check that it is spinning freely.
 
Aha, is everything else on your system fully updated then, mainly the chipset drivers (motherboard)
 
sounds like artefacts - what do the temps (+here) say?

As for the drivers - what does the nvidia homepage say about latest drivers for your card ... it might be a good idea to check the respective parts manufacturers sites for drivers as the HP site might not neccessarily update to the latest drivers...
 
Just had another thought - of course if it is on board and thus sharing system memory it could indicate a memory issue - have had this happen to me before anyway, long time ago thought.

Well I just did a system restore because my computer was overdue for it. I booted it back to its original factory condition. I do this every year to year and a half because i am a download junkie and i accumulate so much crap. Anyway I was thinking it would fix the video card but the problem is still there. Now I am thinking either its the video cable or my monitor is going. I will have to buy a new cable first and then if that doesn't work maybe a new monitor! : (
