Well it all started when i read a computer magazine and found a program called Media Portal. I have WinTV2000 so i can use my TV tuner but its not a very, lets say, atractive or multi-functional program. I downloaded and install ed Media Portal which asked me to install some video codecs and so i did. I tried the program but when watching TV and flicking through channels it doesnt say what you are watching. So i went back to my old WinTV2000, but the actually video that was playing was only a quater of the screen. I unistalled this Media Portal but that didnt work.
So i searched google for how to remove video codecsand found out in system settings->hardware->device manager->then the video codecs. I removed the ones that i didnt recognize. I still have DivX, XviD, Fraps (a program to record gaming) and MS-MPEG 4 driver. This also didnt fix the small video. I just lived with it for a couple of days.
Then i tried to watch a video online but when i got half way through the computer went into the blue screen of death. before i can get the error code it restarts.
I have tried to do system restore (before i removed the codecs i made a restore point) but it says it could do it. So i tried again but at an earlier time and that didnt work.
Now when i look on the video codec list all the codecs are there, but it still crashes and still has a small video.
Sorry for such a long problem but can anybody help me?
