I tried a little harder this time, which one do you prefer? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Yeah, I always whip out the same old font, it's either papyrus or sand. I add a wind filter and call it good. I've got to stop doing that. How'd you get yours?
 
The bottom one but same as matt tibb, I think you should use a different font.
 
I agree with the other two entirely. The bottom one is done up quite nicely, but a different font would improve it a lot!
 
What sort of font do you suggest? I was sort of thinking of a swirly, oceanic looking one but I couldn't find anyway to do that without distorting "Exfoliate" too much. Any suggestions?
 
Hm...AngryBlue always works well for me. Actually the Controlled version of it would look better for this style.

I see the beginnings of a scan bar, on the right of the bottom one - finish it off, and that would look great!
 
Yeah, origionally I had a scan bar all finshed and functioning but as it passed my little figure (the wierdo with the spiky thing) it sort of garbled the image and it looked horrible so I just kept it in the corner.
 
Gah! It wouldn't let me download anything! I keep trying and reloading/refreshing and nothing works. I really wanted those fonts too. Any suggestions or other good sites for fonts? Please help.

There is a way to get the scan bar just to work with one layer, in your case the background, I'd imagine.

Put the scan bar between the character and the background and hit CTRL + G. This will basically make the scan bar only affect the background. If the bar is still visible, you can then hop on over to imageready, and finish the scan.
 
Thanks Waffle, I actually got it to work a few minutes before you posted. I just feel a little cheesy having the scan bar, because people look and think, "Oh yeah, I say that in the tutorial." Well I couldn't exactly hurt my image anymore so I'll keep it.
One question though, I went to fiddle around with my font and I was distressed to see that I forgot to create a separate layer for it. Is there any way to trash it without disturbing anything else in the same layer? I don't care what happens to it obviously. Thanks.
 
I tried sites like Angryblue and what not but it wouldn't download. I'll have to look harder. Oh and I found a backup copy I forgot about and I was able to delete the font too.
