What Are You Getting For Christmas?

I've decided on canceling my computer upgrades as I need a car. I'm thinking of spending a couple hundred on my drums, selling one of my drumsets and with some helps from the parental units getting an early '80s VW.

I don't have my license yet but driving a mercedes cl500 around makes me too nervous.
So what makes you so nervous about driving a mercedes? It can't be safety if you're considering a VW ;) Well, I'm making the assumption that you're talking about a VW Bug. Also, the bugs are fairly hard to keep running. You have to have at least a decent amount of mechanical capabilities.

I'm just worried about hitting something because I pretty much suck at driving. I'm thinking about a golf, passat kinda thing. I'd only consider if I found a bug with a porsche(sp?) engine.

Not to sound like some hard-ass coach, but *practice, practice* only makes you better.

hahah.. like StimpE said, you may want to practice :D But yeah, golfs and passats are kinda ugly, but whatever you're comfortable in. Good luck!

I haven't used one, but I do hear that Kia's are nice and cheap. That and a 10-year warranty isn't a bad deal. On the other hand, if a new vehicle isn't your bag, a Honda Civic or Accord probably wouldn't be a bad first car...even if it was an early 90's model. I don't know why people say Cavalier's are chick cars, but I've been really happy with mine (it's the Z24, so a little sportier version). I like smaller cars, but not something that's like a Geo Metro. Even the Dodge Neon is a little cramped for my tastes.
