Tried reinstalling the OS on my media center pc. Went for Vista ultimate, disc works on every other PC around here with no problem, never had issues with it. However, trying to install it on a 25 gig partition (Since it's OS Only), it says: "Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets the criteria for installation." So I gave up on that, and tried installing XP, that had a similar error, but it wanted to put some setup files on one of the storage drives, and wants an XP compatable partition. But I'm not creating a partition on that drive and risking huge data loss. What is going on?
Nevermind, fixed it. Not sure why but unplugging the 300GB sata drive seems to have done the trick. Any input on why this f'ed it up?
SATA connectors are quite susceptible to dust or vibrations which can affect the integrity of the connection. Whenever you dust out your PC, it's a good idea to dust out the SATA connectors as well and make sure they're firmly connected.
