windows Xp takes 1 minute to load on decent pc need help

hi guys my pc specs are

3200 amd athlon 64 cpu

1024 kingston hyper x ram pc 3200

mobo is a asus an8-sli premium

250 gig sata maxator hard drive

its always taken a prity long time to load windows and i havent yet figured out why pc is about 8 months old :doh: any help would be much apreciated
 
More than likely startup programs, but to be honest even if you keep on top of the startup stuff windows boot times seem to slow down after you have installed all your stuff anyway.
I certainly wouldnt worry about a 1min boot time!

On a brand new install mine boots in a about 30secs but after ive stuck the drivers on and my office apps its goes down to about 1min, sometimes more.

I would be very happy with 1 min.

Mine takes around 2/3 Min's, I do agree that once you start to install programs it really slows down.

There is a thread on this site with info on speeding up the startup and shutdown times. If I find it I will edit this post.

when i had only just installed The Os for the first time it was taking a long time to start up for a decent pc its always taken around 1 minute to load, when ppl i know with verry simular spec pcs load up in 30 seconds everytime just wounderd if theres anything i can do to improve it i will be doing a clean install soon but i know it will still take longer than 30 secs to load windows :doh:

ive tried bootvis to optimise programs on startup i have about 40 proceses running
 
You could also try turning off 'fast indexing' (file search facility) for your HDs under their 'Properties'. Also, too many desktop icons can additionally slow boot-time down along with too many programs in your Start Menu'.

try this to take full cotrol of which programs run at boot
 
when i boot up it gives around 10 seconds to alow u to enter bios then after that theres a 10 second period wich alows u to set up sata raid they slow the boot time alot the xp takes about 30 seconds to fully load
 
right click on my computer ,choose properties,next click on Advanced...
click on startup/Recovery (settings) remove check mark in time to display OS,next in time to display recovery options, put in 5 seconds.

i tried this m8 it did not work boots the same

Isnt that for when you are dual booting using the windows MBR

im not shure what u mean :doh: but i know on most people i knows computer the raid selection doesnt come up even on a faily old laptop i have it doesnt come up and the laptop boots faster than my pc even tho its half the spec + i have totaly filled the hard rive on the laptop and its still faster than my pc after a clean install :(
 
After startup , how many processes do you have running ? It can between
18 to ? This will have allot to do with the way your computer boots.
Also you could try bootvis .. this will tune up your boot files..
 
I have about 29 on this computer, and 18 on my main computer.
Go to start/run/type in :msconfig Next click on (StartUP)
Now remove everything that you know that you don't need to run at startup.
Or copy and paste what you have running here,so we can see what you can turn OFF..
