wireless connection disables when wep entered

i have 2 laptops both wireless, they find each other ok, and connect ok untill i enter wep key on work laptop then connection fails help please
 
Can you be more specific?

i assume that you mean you can access the internet by "and connect ok"... if this is the case, then your router is not configured to use wep/wpa.

you need to setup your router to use wep/wpa, and then use the key the router shows you to connect (you will not be able to connect without it)
 
i have 2 laptops both wireless as stated, one is home one, one is my work one,my home one runs fine on wireless, with wep activated, when i connect my work one and enter the wep i loose connection, should i be able to have both pcs on and connect with wep? thanks
 
Yes, you should be able to have both connected at the same time!

What do you mean by "loose connection"? do you mean both laptops disconnected?
