X1950 1GB Pro, Worth it?

X1950 1GB pro, worth it? I got a new PC and it has two 7600GS (512mb) in and its useless, it works better with 1 in than two, so I want to upgrade my video card, I have around 250£ - 300 £ (500-600$) to spend and I figure a X1950 Pro might be good, better than the nvidias cards? Oh and do I need a special motherboard as its GDDR4? Thanks Brock
 
if you have 250-300 to spend you should look at the nvidia 8800 gts/gtx if you really want to run any game at full specs.
 
I just ordered my 8800GT, ive read that they are just as good as the 8800GTS and quite alot cheaper. mine was £223 and its a beast. go to scan.co.uk and have a look
 
The card won't effectively make use of the 1GB, and it's more marketing than anything else. The X1950 Pro is worth around $150 USD (I think that's about 100 Pounds). This series was competition for the GeForce 7900 series, which were the high-end of the GeForce 7 line.

For the money, go with a GeForce 8800GT or Radeon HD3870.
The only thing you should check on would be your power supply. These cards draw a fair amount of power, so budget at least $100 USD for a decent unit should you currently lack one.
