it won't kill your system. the only thing that could be of interest is whether your PSU will be able to power the new card. see the cards requirements.

I have an aspire 5536 laptop and have just been given an Iomega Prestige Desktop hard drive 1.5TB.
I have transfered all the files I wish to at this time but when I go to Safely remove hardware and error message comes up as follows
Windows can not stop your 'Generic volume' device because it is in use.
Close any programs or windows that might be using the device, and then try again later.
The device doesn't appear to be running just sitting there with the power light on.
How do I see what programs may be using it?
