    Computer Rebuild

No prob dude. Basically there's a pretty good chance that it will work fine, when they say recommended or standard that's basically the highest that it will officially support in that they aren't officially responsible if you have problems using ram at higher speeds on that mobo. Generally...

Suggestions on surround sound for ps2.

Yeah you're probably right. I did spot these guys though that looked pretty decent for the price and said they had a game console adaptor. Newegg.com - Logitech X-540 5.1 Speaker - Retail not sure if that's the ticket or not but it got me pumped for minute.

    Computer Rebuild

I can't give you a very good answer on the mobo department other than to say that generally ASUS is the more respected brand out there. They've been playing the game awhile and are generally stable and full featured. Evga is pretty new with the mobo department and though they seem to do well I...

Suggestions on surround sound for ps2.

Thanks bro, that's good to get some of that cleared up. Unfortunately that's a bit out of my price range but it's good to know what to shoot for. If the X530's would do the trick I'd jump on that one but for right now I guess I'll probably just have to save up.

Suggestions on surround sound for ps2.

Hey all, from what I gather I'm really missing out on a good bit of immersion when it comes to my PS2 games. I'm still just chugging along with my standard tv based speakers and am looking into picking up a reasonably priced set of 5.1 speakers. It's pretty obvious that the Logitech X-530's...

    What to buy?

Yikes, that's a tough one to go back to, it's always hard after being spoiled by zippy hardware. But I'm sure they can sort things out. Taking the clock down a tick or two won't be the end of the world, 3.5/6 is plenty fine.

    Graphics on its way out??

It's worth having the DX 10 functionality sure, it would be silly to upgrade to a DX 9 part now but the GS isn't totally blowing the X1950XTX out of the water or anything unfortunately, though it still holds it's own for the price I suppose. It's still a pretty strong pic, I'd even give a nod...

    Graphics on its way out??

I wouldn't necessarilly blame it on ASUS which in my reading does pretty well in the graphics front but sometimes they just go bad after not too long. While I didn't experiece the same issues you did with the artifacting my 6800 did die on me after about a year or so and XFX is a pretty...

    What to buy?

I wouldn't bother with prime, it's the real world apps the determine whether it's good for the long haul. A few hours of intensive gaming is all you need to figure out whether it's stable or not as you know. 3.69, nice dude, I always find it crazy to think that people are spending hundreds...

    What to buy?

oh yeah newegg is pretty much the mac daddy of online component retailers, I've spent a good $2300 there I believe between me and my friends computer I built him. I did have my dinky old 3000+ oc'ed to about 2.3 or so but it really wan't stable so I kept it modest. It made a pretty big...

    What to buy?

Really? Well thanks man but I'm definately in the market for a full blown upgrade, I've squeezed a lot more performance than I thought possible out of this old warhorse but I think it's well past it's prime now. It's fun to play around with overclocking and all but the way I look at it is if...

    What to buy?

Nope, you never need to change your thermal paste unless you're changing out your processor. Otherwise let it go and you'll be fine. And those are some mighty impressive temps concidering it's a pretty substantial OC.

Buying a video card. Need direction!!

The 7900GS is what I'd advise too, it's really worth having that extra oomph for down the road and it's not a whole lot more cash for about twice the card. Alternatively you could look into these if you just can't see your self spending over the $125 mark. Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE Radeon X1950GT...

    The new 8800 GTS

For now you really won't need a 640mb version. No game is going to hog that much memory. But with DX 10 stuff there will eventually be a distinct advantage when playing at high res with the texture options maxed etc.

    What to buy?

Generally they're pretty quiet as they don't draw a lot of power or get too hot. It's obviously a low end card but it's serviceable for games a couple years back or less demanding modern ones and yeah it's vista capable so you'll get those aero effects but just don't expect blazing performance...

Is onboard video detetrimental to performance with a video card

Having onboard video without another video is going to suck performane a bit because it uses system memory, however it probably won't matter much because generally the only time you'll need all your memory is during an intensive game or if your into heavy graphics or animation programs in which...

I say keep it as is. It's a good way to separate the two visuals and the color complements the texturous industrial blue bit quite well I think. Possibly a darker tone on the two parallel lines but I think it's quite classy myself as is. If you take the bars out the image looks pretty bare and...
