Thanks Addis :good: . PS. Just out of curiosity, do you know what those "import/export" commands are in regedit?

    .gif animations

Ok, when you get the dialog box asking where you want to save it, you'll see that at the bottom of the box (below where it says " File name: ") there's an option that says " Save as type ". Just expand it and choose the " GIF(*.gif) " extension. Hit " Save " and you should be good to go. Now...

    Registry question

Just a quick question. How do you back up your registry in Win2K/XP? When I go to "regedit" I see some "export/import" options in the menu. Is that the way you back up the registry?

Out of the blue: XP not booting for me?

Yeah, I'd go with BigB on this one. "Safe mode" let's you know if the problem is software/driver or hardware related.

    Where did they go?

Hey guys, I found the answer thanks to a friend that had the same problem with 2000. The solution was kind of . . . complicated, to me at least. But you did have to go into the registry. It seems to be a bug in Win2K and thank God Microsoft is aware of it. If you're interested in the solution...

Thanks Penguin, that makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, I don't have a backup of my registry :ohah: .

    Where did they go?

Hi guys: I've been having a weird problem for some days now. I have Win2000 Sp3, and for some reason my "thumbnail views" don't work anymore. I have no idea what I changed, if anything. Now, what's even more strange is that thumbnails work on Bmp files, but not with Jpegs  . I...

    motherboard is alive?

Thats not so strange. I've had lots of MSI boards and most of them do that weird stuff. As soon as you plug them, the fans spin for like 2 seconds and then turn off again. It freaked me out the first time  , but then I accepted it as something normal from MSI. After they're done with this...

    Which card?

OOOOOOOh, ok I get it. Guess the only way would be to try it. I still don't think it's worth it but thanks for your input, man.

    Which card?

Ok Ninja, thats looks like a good deal. But my question is: will that Matrox perform better on AutoCAD than my 98pro :smiledd: ?

    Which card?

Yep, you're right man. Checked out prices online and they start approx at $500 for the cheapy ones. Good ones? They go up to $3000 :ah: That's just insane for my budget. Allright Exfoliate, thanks for your opinion.

    Serious problem; motherboard?

Why dont you try powering the MOBO outside of the case, just to rule out grounding problems. This just happened to me like a week ago with the same symptoms: everything was spinning but that's as far as it went.

    Which card?

Allright BigB, thanks for the input. I knew my 98pro wouldn't let me down!
  17. dannnyjos

    Which card?

Well Ninja, I wouldn't want to spend more than $300. So, you think the 9800 pro just won't cut it for Autocad? :smiledd:

    Which card?

Hey guys, I just wanted to know what vid card would you recommend to run AUTOCAD. I have a 9800pro, but I don't know if that's enough. I've heard about matrox, parhelia and stuff. Can you tell me if my 9800 needs to be replaced by one of those? Thanks ;) .

    New PC, weird problem

Ok guys, I think the problem is solved. I took the MOBO out of the case and put it on a bench connected only to the PSU. On ly RAM and CPU on it. I turned it on and off like 10 times and it was all good. I'm guessing it might have been grounding problems, may be? If it was, then it was totally...
