Scorps65: Below is are the running programs and services. The problem admittedly reared a few months ago. Avast, WScheduler and PhoneTray were staples long before that. Firefox may have been installed about that same time but I would be dubious.
A Google search did turn up reports of the possibly one pixel wide dotted vertical cursor but none ever resolved. I do doubt if my experience is unique.
