Any Motherboard with a LGA775 will work with your Processor and and any pci-e cards should work with a pci-e motherboard. the only thing you have to watch for is make sure it takes the same ram. or its cheap and you can buy new stuff.

It could be a loose connector. Just this Christmas i got a new case and psu. first it worked then it didn't. I took it apart jiggled everything, but still nothing. so i took a closer look at the cable connecting to the mobo. it had extra pins being a powersupply that could support a 28pin board...

hmm im not sure because that means saving for another £200 investment whereas if i pay that bit more for a higher preforming card which the overclockers on is only £250 anyway i wont have to. plus i dont have an sli mobo so that would cost me another 100-150 that i dont have.

if you have 250-300 to spend you should look at the nvidia 8800 gts/gtx if you really want to run any game at full specs.
